An attempt was made to find methodical means of a selective recording of motor unit potentials during great isometric concentrations of muscles and investigation of their impulse activities. The investigations were made with non-trained persons and sportsmen of high qualifications, track and field-athletes sprinters, long distance runners and throwers. EMG the motor units of untrained persons and those specializing in various kinds of sport were different. In non-trained persons the same weak arbitrary contraction brought about motor units to function with intervals of 58-108 ms., in sportsmen this interval was 58-158 ms. In clinically healthy persons, the frequency of discharging of motor units increased on increasing the contraction strength of muscle. This showed that motor units are recruited in a determined order with the increase of the isometric strength of contraction.
