An alcoholic 50 years old who had had Billroth II gastrectomy for duodenal ulcer 8 years previously had wet berberi. He recovered after treatment with a diet rich in protein, pancreatic extract, folic acid, Fe and ascorbic acid by mouth and injections of B vitamins including thiamin.
