Long-term studies established the effectiveness of hygienic measures on the sanitary and bacteriologic indices of the sea health resort zone. Intestinal bacterial pollution decreased by 45-99%, enterophages by 51% and enteroviruses (coxsackieviruses A and B, echovirus) by 10%. The presence of bdellovibrios in the water and the low total microbial count indicate the functioning of the self-purification processes.
