Sexuality is a rarely discussed topic during psychiatric interviews, especially with patients suffering from psychosis. One often has the impression that because of their mental illness, these patients have a non existent sex life. However this subject is in fact of great importance to them. It is therefore crucial to integrate this concept in all aspects of care for psychotic patients, particularly since antipsychotic medication often has side effects affecting sexual spheres (often caused by increased prolactin levels, leading for example to reduced libido or impotence) which are often the source of poor medication observation.
