A case of tetanus in pregnancy is described. It occurred in the 7th mo. of gestation. No abnormalities could be found in the course of gestation and the fetal well-being. The pregnancy was terminated by cesarean section because of cephalo-pelvic disproportion (flat pelvis). The woman received tetanus antitoxin (AT) in the 13th day of disease (in pregnancy) and the dose was repeated 1 mo. later. In the 54th day after the administration of the 2nd dose of AT the anti-tetanus antibodies in the maternal and neonatal blood were measured. The level was the same in both samples. In the neonate it was higher than the preventive level; protecting the neonate from disease development in case of infection.
