Trans gene complementation of I-E subregion antigens

The aim of the work was to confirm earlier results obtained by Jones et al. [see ABA 47. 1929] that the expression of IE-subregion antigens is controlled by 2 genes, one in the IA subregion and the other in the IE subregion of the H-2 complex. Using 4 inbred strains of mice it was shown that trans gene complementation by 2 MHC genes, one in the IA and the other in the IE subregion, permits cell-surface expression and precipitation of a previously non-precipitatable E beta chain.

2005: I understood that trans fat should be avoided because it can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. And I had heard that the main source of trans fat is partially hydrogenated oils.
