Lactic acid estimation in cerebrospinal fluid in meningitis

Lactic acid level was estimated in the CSF of 10 controls (13.56 .+-. 2.28), 13 patients with tubercular meningitis (63.95 .+-. 3.24; P .ltoreq. 0.05) and 11 patients with pyogenic meningitis (192.69 .+-. 2.94; P .ltoreq. 0.02). The diagnostic significance of CSF lactic acid level in differentiating 2 types of meningitis is emphasized.
