The genetics of hereditary lymphosarcoma of pigs

Eighty carrier X carrier matings were carried out, yielding 602 surviving progeny, of which 149 (25%) were lymphosarcoma cases; 68 of these were male and 81 female. In addition, 30 unaffected progeny of the carrier X carrier matings and 40 progeny of carrier X non-carrier present were test mated. The results did not reveal any significant deviation from the expected Mendelian ratios. The difficulty and problems of establishing the recessive character of this disease are discussed.
