Visceral leishmaniasis in 2 siblings and their father

The case is reported of 2 siblings of French extraction, infected with visceral leishmaniasis whose father presented with the same disease 25 years previously. Both children showed all the clinical, biological and immunological features of the disease; treatment with glucantime and pentamidine was successful. The epidemiology of Leishmania donovani in France, and the treatment of infections, are discussed and 55 references are cited.
