Brucellosis in fowls--a preliminary communication

A report of brucellosis in fowls is presented for the 1st time in India. Of the 176 fowls tested for serological evidence of brucellosis, 50.57% showed varying levels of Brucella agglutinins. Attempts to isolate the organisms from 29 spleen samples were unsuccessful. The significance of fowls in the epidemiology of brucellosis is stressed.
