The mucopolysaccharide complex, isolated from sheep skin, prekeratin of hair follicles and keratoses of wool by paper electrophoresis, was separated into chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. The chondroitin sulfate content in all the objects studied, except for .gamma.-keratosis, is higher than that of hyaluronic acid. The highest level of chondroitin-sulfuric acid is observed in the matrix of prekeratin of hair follicles and cuticle of wool fiber, i.e., .beta.-keratosis.
