The capacity of larvae of 1 instar of 4 spp. of horse botflies (Gasterophilus pecorum, G. nigricornis, G. haemorrhoidalis and G. inermis) to penetrate intact human skin was established. G. intestinalis penetrated into damaged human skin. G. nasalis was not infective to humans.
