Neutralizing antibody to BHV2 virus was demonstrated in the serum of 217 (38%) of 576 cattle in 10 of 12 farms in Friesland in 1972/3; 80% of titres were between 1:2 and 1:20; 20% were above 1:20. There is no published report of the isolation of virus or of herpes mammillitis in the Netherlands.
