Examination of intestinal contents and mesenteric lymph nodes from 115 swine slaughtered in Romania yielded four strains of the bacterium, belonging to types 4/O3/V111 and 2/O9/X3. Specific antibodies were present in five serum samples at titres of 1/160 to 1/640.
