Home health agencies: federal and state requirements for nutrition intervention

The concept of home health care services has changed since the passage of Medicare legislation in 1965. The development of the concept and the present status of federal regulations regarding the nutrition component for home health agencies are summarized. A survey of states made by a mail questionnaire indicated that 17 states have regulations relating to home health agencies. State regulations about nutrition in these agencies are reported. Their relation to federal standards is pointed out.
