110 cases of suppurative lung diseases were examined, 78 of them were operated upon. The studies of external respiration function, total and pulmonary hemodynamics, a number of metabolic processes and of renal function were carried out. It was demonstrated that suppurative-inflammatory processes in the lungs give rise to considerable changes in some parts of homeostasis. The main factor controlling the depth of physiological and biochemical shifts in the body is the degree of intoxication which determines the predominance of metabolic disturbances.
