Brain lipids in metachromatic leucodystrophy

Lipid changes in the brain of a case affected by a juvenile form of metachromatic leukodystrophy are reported. Changes in the amount of lipid in the white and gray matter were found. The results are discussed on the basis of well-known morphological and other biochemical data. A mechanism for the demyelinating processes is postulated.
