Normal infant after treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia in pregnancy with daunorubicin

Daunorubicin, thioguanine and cytosine arabinoside were administered from the 17th-34th wk of pregnancy in a 23 yr old patient with acute myeloid leukemia. The patient went into remission of her leukemia, and a normal male infant was born after labor was induced in the 40th wk. Modern regimens of anti-leukemic drugs may be administered during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy without harmful effects on the fetus.
