Responses to a questionnaire circulated in Rugby in 1977 among small groups and tested with male and female subjects separately in 3 age groups, over 60, working age and older schoolchildren, indicated some sound knowledge of food values, though blind spots were frequent. The most striking finding was that women in the group over 60 years old had a much poorer grasp of the principles involved than any of the other groups. It was clear that on the subject of diet and nutrition there is a need for education of all sections of the public.
