The fine needle aspiration biopsy of a woman diagnosed as breast carcinoma disclosed lymphocytes, reticulocytes, histiocytic (epitheloid) cells and multinucleated giant cells. Cytologic examination showed granulated tissue with giant cells and epitheloid cells without epithelial elements. There was no evidence of necrosis; cancer was considered unlikely. Further clinical examination for specific granulomatous disease was recommended. A histologic diagnosis of Boeck's sarcoidosis was established.
