The problems of cysticerciasis and hydatidosis in Africa are described and obstacles to their control and eventual eradication are highlighted. An integrated, multidisciplinary, environmental approach is outlined. It is considered essential that the natural and social environments in which the parasites and man interact are studied. The ecodevelopment of each eco-region must have clearly-defined specific solutions, based on local studies.
