Survival curves to nitrous acid were plotted and DNA content was determined in the wild type strain of the yeast C. utilis in 2 auxotrophic mutants derived from it, and in a hybrid obtained by complementation of both mutants. The existance of a diploid stage or a dilcaryon phase in this yeast is suggested.
