A partitioning clean-up method performed in test tubes with small solvent vols., and using syringes instead of separatory funnels for phase separations, was tested for potential as a general clean-up method for > 60 pesticide compounds, including a number of herbicides. More than 50% recovery was obtained in most cases, even though minimum manipulation rather than maximum recovery was the aim. Since the recoveries usually are constant. procedural losses can be compensated for by correction factors. From summary.
