Comparative effects of diphenylglioxal and its superoxide on experimental tumors

A comparative study of the effects of dyphenylglioxal, its peroxide or both, administered orally in C3H/HE/M female mice with Bittner mammary carcinoma and Swiss mice with Ehrlich ascites tumor was done. Analysis performed in the Bittner tumor showed reduction of the size, tumor necrosis action and histological changes in treated animals at doses of 10 mg/kg daily. No evidence of these alterations was seen in untreated groups. In mice with Ehrlich tumors mitotic changes in tumor cells different from control groups, less increase of body weight in the treated animals and increase in the lapsed time of death were noted.
