Comparison of the movements of the center of gravity and of the center of pressure in stabilometric studies

Horizontal and vertical reaction forces on the feet were measured simultaneously for a man standing upright. The displacements of the center of pressure, as they were measured in stabilometric studies, were derived from the vertical forces. The horizontal ones led to the real displacement of the center of gravity. The curves obtained in this way were not identical. The oscillations of the center of gravity compared to the movements of the pressure center were smaller in amplitude and frequency.
