Dynamics of intracerebral circulation during work in computer center personnel

Rheoencephalographic characteristics of intracerebral blood circulation were studied in keyboard operators, programmers and hardware specialists during the working day. Most apparent changes in blood circulation were noted in keyboard operators whose work involved intensive use of the eyes; vascular tone of cerebral vessels increased in the left (dominant) hemisphere with a decrease in the rate of circulation. Decreased circulation rate was also noted in programmers; this was attributed to the stress of the central regulatory mechanism controlling vascular tone. No specific changes were noted in the hardware specialists. The prolonged hypokinesia and emotional stress, particularly in the keyboard operators, may also be contributing factors.
