Anti-Candida albicans precipitating antibodies in the sera of surgery patients

The behaviour of precipitin antibodies against soluble C. albicans antigens was studied in healthy subjects and subjects undergoing surgery for neoplastic and other diseases. The Ouchterlony test was positive in 13.7% of the controls. In patients with intestinal tract neoplasia it was 26.6% before and 66.6% after operation. In 2 other groups with neoplasia the percentages after operation were 50% and 63.1%. In non-neoplastic patients the test was positive in 35% after operation. The data were confirmed by the partigen elution test. Specific anti-C. IgG, and in some cases IgA, could be demonstrated.
