Liquid scintillation counting is used in a wide variety of applications. Urinalysis and the counting of laboratory swipes are 2 general uses. A new cocktail containing device, the scintillation tube, proved to be an extremely useful and economic addition to the liquid scintillation counting system. The tube is a 2-layered plastic bag. The scintillation tube provides an economical and reliable cocktail containing device. The ease of handling for counting and disposal, along with the impermeability of the tube, make it a practical alternative to vials. The simplicity of use in laboratory surveys and the fact that it can also be used for urinalysis make the tube an effective all-purpose cocktail containing device.
