Cyclopia--a rare case of diabetic embryopathy

(Mrs) SB, 29 years, PO+O, a known diabetic on oral hypoglycaemic (glibenclamide 5 mg + metformin 400 mg) for last 1 l/2 years attended maternity OPD of IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital carrying about 12 weeks of pregnancy with blood glucose fasting 122 mg% and postprandial 226 mg% (still on antidiabetic regimen). She refused immediate admission for further management though she was put on insulin and oral hypoglycaemic agents stopped. She was asked for regular antenatal checkup which she did infrequently. No family history of any congenital malformation was present but her father was diabetic.
