The experiences of the Knoxville District Dietetic Association and the author's own experiences as a dietitian representative on the Health Systems Agency are related to alert other dietitians to the need for exploring possible participation in local health planning efforts. Implementation of the National Health Planning and Resources Development Act of 1974, P.L. 93-641, laid the groundwork for such participation and is the most recent attempt by Congress to provide equal access to quality health care as a federal priority.
