Among the 140 residents in the area of the lake in Central Missouri (constructed in 1969) 29 cases of swimmer's itch were detected; all were in children aged 14 and under. Most of the cases occurred in the last 2 weeks of May and the first week of June and all followed swimming in the lake. 2 Helisoma sp. from the lake shed shopalcerus cercariae.
