A new microwave device which inactivates brain enzymes rapidly and uniformly is described. Two power levels (0.8 kW and 4.5 kW), were studied. The high-power microwave irradiation had several advantages over the low-power irradiation. In its application to neurochemical studies, a significant increase in the DOPAC GMP in the brain between the 2 methods of sacrifice, while significant reduction of the cAMP level was observed in the irradiated brain.
