Congenital familial myasthenia gravis is probably related to a genetic factor. This disease occurred in 2 sibling whose parents were cousins. Both siblings, a woman aged 21 and a man aged 15, were thymectomized. The boy improved markedly; the girl improved when, 6 mo after the thymectomy, a prednisone treatment was started (alternate-day high single-dose).
