The origin and topographic relations of the cystic artery were studied in 115 adult humans. The gallbladder was supplied by 1, 2, or 3 cystic arteries giving off branches to the gallbladder and extrahepatic bile ducts. The cystic artery may arise at the fundus of the gallbladder, then has a retrograde course towards the cystic duct.
