Sera from 31 patients infected with Schistosoma mansoni were treated with 3% polyethylene glycol. The precipitates obtained (which consisted of immune complexes) were investigated for fractions of complement. C3 was demonstrated in 96.8% of precipitates, C4 in 90.3% and Clq in 19.3%. The level of C3 in the sera was inversely proportional to the level of immune complexes.
