Erosive adenomatosis of a supernumerary nipple

An 18 yr old woman consulted a physician for a lesion on the right breast, which existed for about 1 1/2 yr. Since the diagnosis was in doubt, a biopsy was taken. Histological examination showed an epithelial glandular proliferation with epidermal erosion. It was erosive adenomatosis on a supernumerary nipple. There were no signs of maligancy. It was decided to remove the entire structure. Supplementary histological study confirmed the diagnosis. While such erosions of ordinary nipples, though unusual, were reported 200 times, this is only the 2nd case of such an event in a supernumerary nipple.
