Organization of ascaridiasis control in the Bryansk district

Since 1964 an ascaridiasis control project was conducted in the Bryansk Oblast [Russian SFSR, USSR]. The regional features of the epidemiology of ascaridiasis and the possibilities for wide application of mass measures were studied. Improvement of sanitary conditions of the villages, plants and offices, sanitary education of the population, and large-scale dehelminthization with piperazine were done. By 1974 the prevalence of ascaridiasis in the population of the Bryansk region was sharply reduced, and in 1973 this index was 7% (81% lower than in 1963).
