A note on clinical trials with jawaherene

Jawaherene, a new anticancer antibiotic was tried in 11 cases of a variety of malignant lesions. The drug was highly toxic and caused severe pain. Of the 11 patients studied, 10 failed to respond. A solitary case of melanoma showed 80% regression but this could be due to a local inflammatory reaction stimulating a nonspecific response.
