A specific photoelectrocolorimetric method was developed for quantitative estimation of morphine in alcohol-ammonia mother solutions formed in the course of manufacturing morphine from poppy bolls. This method permits control of the entire process of morphine manufacturing. Complete separation of morphine from the whole sum of phenol and non-phenol alkaloids is achieved by successive purification of the mother solution with chloroform (pH = 5.2) and benzene (pH-9.8-10.0). Relative error of the method as calculated by mathematical statistics was .+-. 6.6%. The duration of separation is 7 h.
