A case of gall bladder tuberculosis

The author reports on a 63 years old woman with symptoms of occlusion for 2 months. Exploratory laparotomy revealed that a tumour noted in the right hypochondrium was the gall bladder, enlarged and filled with stones and pus. Typical tubercles were disclosed in the histological examination. An inveterate change in the lungs was discovered, which was obviously primary. The author thinks that if histological preparations were made more frequently of the extirpated gall bladder and if pathologists should more often take into account the possibility of tuberculous cholecystitis, a greater number of cases of this disease, which is considered so rare, would very probably be discovered.
