To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 2940 nm fractional photothermolysis laser in the treatment of acne scarring in Chinese people. Twenty-six patients with moderate-to-severe atrophic scarring were treated with a 2940 nm-wavelength fractional photothermolysis laser. All patients had encouraging results. Both skin elasticity and moisture content increased significantly after five treatments. In post-treatment evaluations, both the patients treated, as well as an independent group of physicians each scored the atrophic scar improvement as significant. The 2940 nm fractional photothermolysis laser is safe and effective in the treatment of acne scarring.
