After having reasoned upon prematurity and immaturity, the author calls attention on immaturity, pointing out all medical treatments of the last years in order to reduce the incidence of neonatal mortality due to immaturity. He considers recent acquirements owing to androgens, with a special regard to methilandrostendiol, that is an excellent synthetic product with little virilism effect. He reports the results acquired in 100 cases of immaturity, after treatment with phitostimulines and methilandrostendiol, and concludes that these results are satisfying if compared 10 incidence of mortality before treatment.
