The system of descending vestibulo-spinal control was studied in normal and thyrotoxic cats. A comparison of the temporary influence of stimulation of the vestibular nuclei on monosynaptic discharges of the extensor and flexor motor neurons in control animals and animals given thyroidin demonstrated in the latter a reduction of the facilitating supraspinal effects. An excess of thyroid hormones disturbed vestibular control of the flexor and the extensor reflex reactions.
