The process of in vitro production of L-forms in S. aureus strain N.degree. 2227 was induced by cephalothin. Reversion of L-forms to vegetative form was performed by 3 methods. Immediately after the reversion, capability of producing coagulase, phosphatase and penicillinase was tested, and sensitivity to penicillin G, ampicillin, methicillin, cephalothin, and lysozyme. After the reversion some strains lost certain biochemical activities and acquired sensitivity to the antibiotics tested and lysozyme.
