Gastric acid outputs from Heidenhain pouches of 12 dogs were measured before and after ligation of pancreatic ducts, pancreatitis, external pancreatic fistula and pancreatectomy. The possibilities of some common factor causing an increase in the acid output and some non-common factor responsible for the variations in the increase of acid output after all these procedures were discussed.
