A chronic pneumonia of sucking lambs, which has been known as "kregda" in Iceland for at least 30 years, produces lesions similar to those described for a proliferative interstitial pneumonia of sheep in Australia reported to be associated with Mycoplasma infection [see VB 43, abst. 3889]. Three mycoplasma isolates from the lungs of lambs in a severely affected flock, eight isolates from a flock where the disease had previously been a problem, and one isolate from an unaffected flock were all identified as M. ovipneumoniae.
