Morphological evaluation of the state of different sections of the myocardium in dogs after the intracoronary administration of anticardiac serum

The effect of 1-2 ml of rabbit anticardial cytotoxic serum (ACS) injected into the left coronary artery on the ultrastructure of the left ventricle directly and indirectly affected by the serum was studied in dogs by EM. The myocardial area directly affected was characterized by pericardial edema, erythrostasis, thrombus formation in small vessel, desquamation of microvessel endothelium and changes in cell organelle morphology. The areas of the left ventricle indirectly affected were also characterized by microcirculatory disturbances but to a lesser extent. Most extensive damage occurred within 5-7 min after ACS administration.
