The mobile coronary unit in Basel. Report on its use in 1974

A comparative study has been conducted in two groups of patients with fresh myocardial infarction: 168 brought to the hospital by mobile coronary care unit and 200 hospitalized by the conventional patient transport system. Pre-hospital mortality differed markedly (8.6% in the former group and 26.5% in the latter) but there was no difference in hospital mortality (17.7 vs. 19.8%). The possible implications of these findings are discussed.
