Observations on helminthozoonoses in Zambia

Two anthropozoonotic infections of man with Fasciola gigantica in Zambia were confirmed by the surgical recovery of adult worms. Ova of Dicrocoelium spp. were passed by 3 adult patients, but their origin was uncertain. Physaloptera caucasica ova were passed by one patient and this was probably a genuine infection. Capillaria hepatica ova were passed by 3 women but their infections were probably spurious. The possibility of spurious infections by the consumption of infected animals is discussed.
