Urinary phenolic acids of normal dogs & their retention in acute experimental uraemia

Phenolic acids were estimated in the blood and urine of 15 normal dogs. Those in urine were p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (PHPAA), p-hydroxybenzoic acid and m-hydroxybenzoic acid (MHBA) as well as 2 unknown acids which appeared to be conjugates of PHPAA and of MHBA. Uraemia was produced in 5 dogs by ligation of their ureters. No new phenolic acids appeared in the urine during uraemia.
